BiographyJacopo was the son of a saddler by the name of
Arcangelo di Jacopo. He was a pupil of Filippo
Lippo and later a follower of Sandro Botticelli,
and worked primarily in the manner of his
second master. His first documented commission
from 1477 was for two panels depicting the
Annunciation, showing the Archangel and the
Virgin respectively, for the church of Santa Lucia
dei Magnoli in Florence. He is also one of the
painters of the famous Nerli Cassone, now in the
National Gallery, dated 1472.
