The portrait of Liljefors was painted during Liljefors’ visit to Zorn in Gopsmor which was a place where Zorn lived in later years. Zorn often invited his friends to stay but many of them found the place uncomfortably primitive. Among this category was Bruno Liljefors who cut the visit short which led to his work on the portrait being more problematic than expected.
