Annie Bergman portrayed her colleague in a work coat that protects clothes from wet clay. None of Gerda Sprinchorn’s sculptures or decorative artworks are shown. The austere portrait is dominated by white and grey, perhaps to emphasise seriousness and professionalism. Both were involved in Föreningen Svenska Konstnärinnor, an association for Swedish female artists formed in 1910 as a reaction to most artists’ groups at the time only allowing men.
