In her career Inga-Britt Ahlenius has asserted the importance of independent auditors with constitutional safeguards that make them independent of the government. Her most important post in Sweden was as Director General of the Swedish National Audit Office. Her international career culminated in her appointment as head of the United Nations’ internal audit office. The artist behind this portrait is Denise Grünstein, who has enjoyed an international reputation as a photographer for more than three decades. Her portrait of Ahlenius offers an evocative image with undertones of Romantic nature poetry.
