Swedish artists sought out authentic environments in the French countryside. They often painted people at work, but here Hjalmar Sandberg has chosen a village street in Vichy. The scene is calm and one can imagine that the street looks the same day after day. Like many others, Sandberg seems to have perceived the magic of everyday life and wanted to convey it in pictures.
