Description in Art Bulletin of Nationalmuseum, Stockholm, vol 15, 2008:
Crownprince, Le Dauphin, Louis-Joseph-Xavier-François of France (1781-1789)
    NM 7050
The small portrait of Louis-Joseph-Xavier-François of France was created as a
preparatory element in the work of the portrait of Marie Antoinette and her
children at Petit Trianon in the collection of the Nationalmuseum (NM 1032).
Wertmuller painted a half-length picture of the Dauphin and one of his
sister to be used in the execution of the large group portrait. The painting
has a contemporary frame, decorated with the French fleur-de-lis as in the
coat of arms of the House of Bourbon. On the back of the frame there is an intact seal with the same coat of arms. [slut]
