BiographyPiero di Cosimo was the son of Lorenzo di Piero
d’Antonio, but took his name from his master
Cosimo Rosselli, in whose workshop he trained.
He was also inspired by artists such as Domenico
Ghirlandaio and Filippino Lippi, achieving a
lyrical synthesis of the art of these masters. He is
best known for his allegorical paintings, but also
painted several panels of the Madonna and Child,
notably a version preserved in the Royal Collections
in Stockholm.
